Registration is now open for the second State of Public Health Conference. The conference will be held Oct. 3 at the Classic Center in Athens.
Following the success of the inaugural State of Public Health event in March, organizers from the Georgia Public Health Training Center and the University of Georgia's College of Public Health have planned a follow-up event designed to bring together professionals from several disciplines for constructive conversations about public health across the state. The day-long event will include interactive, solution-driven workshops and presentations.
More than 200 representatives from public health, primary care, academic and business communities attended the conference in March to discuss successes and challenges in Georgia's public health arena. Brenda Fitzgerald, M.D., commissioner of the Georgia Department of Public Health, presented at the conference's plenary session.
"This conference will develop an actionable plan to outline what we can do to move forward so we can improve the health and protect the lives of every single person in Georgia," she said at the conference.
The conference's registration fee is $25. To register, visit the Georgia Public Health Training Center website.
