State Health Benefit Is Offering More Options for You in 2015

October 20, 2014

It’s that time again.

Open enrollment for Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) employees is just around the corner so now is the time to ensure you can enjoy the health benefits offered through the State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP). The SHBP that covers DPH employees has changed this year to provide you more options.

You have an opportunity to add, drop or change important details to your health care coverage from Oct. 27 to Nov. 14. You won’t want to miss out on any of competitive health insurance plans so employees are encouraged to access the new 2015 Decision Guides for active members of the SHBP and Flexible Benefits Program.

Employees interested in speaking to a benefits specialist can take advantage of the benefit fairs being hosted across the state. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the available plan options and ask questions about how to choose the best options for you.

Be sure to keep the following tips in mind when preparing to complete your enrollment process:

  • Verify your mailing address and email address in Employee Self Service.  It is important this information is updated accurately because all correspondence regarding your enrollment will be sent to your mailing address or emailed.
  • Update your beneficiary information for retirement, last pay check, 401(k) and 457 savings plans and life insurance.
  •  Access both State Health Benefits and Flexible Benefits websites to determine if your passwords work for each open enrollment system.
  • Be sure to update your email address on the Georgia Breeze website using the “Your Profile” link to ensure you will receive important information and notices about your enrollment process.

There are an abundance of open enrollment resources available to you online including frequently asked questions, presentations, videos and more. Please visit to review this information. If you have further questions, you can also contact Sherina George, DPH benefits specialist, at (404) 232-1693 or
