This report provides aggregate Georgia HAI data to establish 2013 baselines, to compare state performance to national and state goals, and to measure progress between 2013 and 2014. This report provides data from 125 Georgia facilities on the following HAI:
- Central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI)
- Catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI)
- Surgical site infections (SSI) following colon surgery (COLO)
- Surgical site infections following abdominal hysterectomy (HYST)
- Laboratory-identified (LabID) methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) found in the bloodstream
- Laboratory-identified Clostridium difficile (C. difficile) found in stool
Georgia HAI Advisory Committee (GHAIAC)

The Georgia HAI Advisory Committee (GHAIAC) is a voluntary committee charged with making recommendations to the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) on the prevention of HAIs. The committee was created on December 2, 2009 by recommendation of stakeholders and appointed by DPH. The first meeting of the committee was held on June 30, 2010. The committee includes persons with expertise in surveillance, prevention and control of HAIs, healthcare providers, infection preventionists, hospital administrators, healthcare consumers, and physicians with expertise in infectious disease and epidemiology.
