FAQs - Installer and Pumper Certifications

  • Can an Installer/Pumper work for themself without a company?

    NO.

    They can start a new company and be the sole Installer and/or Pumper.  

  • Can a County EH Office inspect a new company’s truck/issue a pumping permit before they have state certification?

    NO.  

    • A company must submit a state application AND pay the company fee before they call to schedule a truck inspection/permit. 

    • A county can email the EH inbox to get the company certification number once we receive the application and payment.  

  • Can an Installer/Pumper get CEUs if they have been non-certified for more than 2 years?

    NO.

    They need to start over and retest. 

  • What if an Installer/Pumper doesn’t know how long it’s been since they were last certified?

    They should email the EH inbox to confirm their certification timeline and find out what they need to renew.  

  • What are the requirements for becoming certified late in a odd year (ex. Nov/Dec 2023):

    New Companies: 

    • Pay the pro-rated company fee anytime before Dec 31st AND pay the full company fee again in Feb, 2024.  

    • OR wait until Jan 1, 2024 to apply and then only pay the full company fee.  

    New Installer/Pumper:

    • Must get CEUs when they renew in Feb, 2024.  

    • OR wait until Jan 1, 2024 to apply for new certification and CEUs will not be required until Feb, 2026. 

  • When do certifications expire?

    All Installer/Pumper and company certifications expire on February 28, 2024 and will be renewed every 2 years on even numbered years (i.e. 2/28/26, 2/28/28, etc.).   

  • When can I pay my 2024 renewal fees?

    Company renewal payments can be made starting Jan 1, 2024.

    Late fees apply after Feb 28, 2024.

  • Do CEUs expire?

    Yes.

    CEUs are only valid for the current or upcoming certification cycle. 

  • Do CEUs roll-over?

    No. 

    Any CEUs obtained over the required number do not carry-over to the next certification period.  

  • When are company fees prorated?

    Company fees are pro-rated by 50% in odd years (2023, 2025). 

  • How many CEUs are required if I install AND pump?

    8 hours total
