GRITS HL7 Specifications (available upon request)

Batch & Real-Time

GRITS can accept HL7 files in batch uploads or real-time automated feeds in versions  2.4 & 2.5.1. With the assistance of your EMR, a Web Service of your choice is used as the message transport system for real-time interfacing.

Vital Records are transmitted in weekly increments, including birth and death records.

EXTRACT DATA FROM GRITS:

HMO Query Submission – A list of clients is submitted to GRITS and all immunizations found in the system administered to those clients are returned in a text file.

School Access – Allows school users to submit list of students to generate 3231 and Immunization Needed Reports.

INTERFACE CONSIDERATIONS:

Inventory Management is an optional GRITS function, but mandatory for VFC participants.

Any immunization record received without a matching client record will be discarded in the Data Exchange process.

File size limitation for batch uploads – Combined file size of client, immunization and comment files cannot exceed 210 MB.

GRITS will recognize a 00 Immunization Information Source code to indicate New Administered Vaccine or a 01 to indicate a Historical Record.

Deduct from Inventory can be enabled upon request of the provider. Lot number and CVX code, CPT code or Trade name must be present for deductions from inventory to occur.
