Dr. Plescia has held public health leadership roles at the local, state and federal level. He recently served as Deputy Assistant Secretary and Director of the Office of Science and Medicine in the US Department of Health and Human Services. Prior to that, he was Chief Medical Officer for the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials where he supported and advised the nation’s state public health leaders and served as their principal media spokesperson.
Dr. Plescia received his Medical Degree, Master of Public Health and Bachelor of Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He trained in Family Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY. Dr. Plescia is Board Certified in Family Medicine and practiced for over 20 years in a variety of settings serving homeless, urban poor and rural underserved populations.
