Order Georgia Birth and Death Records Online?
Order certificates from the Georgia Office of Vital Records for births and deaths that occurred in Georgia from January 1919 to the present or certified copies for legal purposes.

Get Prepared
- Make sure you’re eligible. Only individuals with specific qualifying relationships to the person named on the record can receive a birth or death certificate. See also: "Obtaining a Copy of Your Original (Pre-Adoption) Birth Certificate."
- Individuals eligible to order a birth certificate include:
- The person whose name appears on the birth certificate
- A legal spouse
- Parents named on the certificate
- Grandparents
- Adult children
- Adult siblings
- Legal guardians or legal representatives
- Individuals eligible to order a death certificate include:
- A legal spouse
- Adult children
- Adult siblings
- Parents
- Grandparents
- Grandchildren
- Those with a "tangible interest," such as a beneficiary or insurance company
- Members of the public may also order the death record of anyone who has died in Georgia and will receive plain paper copies of the record with the Social Security number redacted.

Gather What You'll Need
You will need the following items to order a birth or death certificate:
- Proof of identity and qualifying relationship documentation (Please note that we do not accept electronic or digital forms of identification. A valid physical government issued photo ID is required for verification purposes.)
- The full name of the individual on the certificate ( middle names are requested but not required)
- The date of that individual's birth or death
- The city or county where the birth or death took place
- The full name of the father if one is listed on the birth certificate
- The full maiden name of the mother if one is listed on the birth certificate
- Your current state-issued driver's license or ID card
- Your social security number
- Your date of birth
- Your address
- An accepted form of payment (a major debit or credit card - VISA, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express)

Submit Your Application
- Visit the ROVER page operated by the Georgia Technology Authority and the Georgia Department of Public Health.
- Follow the prompts and provide the requested information.
Pay the nonrefundable fee of $25 per certified copy plus $8 for processing.
Expedited Shipping Option
- ROVER offers an expedited shipping option through FedEx. When you choose this option, your order will be shipped via FedEx instead of standard USPS mail and will include a tracking number so you can follow your shipment every step of the way.
- Please note that expedited shipping applies only to delivery time and does not reduce the standard processing time, which is up to 10 weeks. Processing times may also be affected by weekends, holidays, or office closures.
- The expedited shipping fee is $16 per order and is available for birth and death certificate requests only.
