Georgia Medical Monitoring Project (MMP)
Georgia was one of 23 project areas (16 state health departments, 6 local health departments, and the Puerto Rico Department of Health) that participated in the Medical Monitoring Project (MMP), a CDC-funded health survey designed to gather information to better understand the experiences and needs of adults living with HIV. The Georgia MMP collected locally representative data on persons living with HIV in Georgia and described how care impacts the health of people with HIV in your community. The grant for this project ended 6/31/25 after more than 10 years of collecting the experiences and needs of the community with HIV. GA DPH will continue to publish data products on this webpage using previously collected survey data.

The data from the project were used to inform HIV prevention community planning groups, Ryan White CARE Act planning councils, providers of HIV care, and others to advocate for reducing gaps in existing resources. GA MMP also provided an opportunity for policy decisions, resource allocation, and evaluation of prevention and treatment initiatives at the local and national levels to be based on population-based data.

Surveillance Summaries
These reports summarize data collected from the Georgia MMP survey using summary statistics and figures. Data includes various demographic, clinical, and behavioral characteristics. The annual report includes all populations surveyed and presents the key findings from the Georgia MMP survey in table format.
The selected subgroups report focuses on Black males, White males, and Black females; three groups surveyed that account for >80% of MMP participants; and highlights differences in demographic, clinical, and behavioral characteristics across the groups. The report also highlights any differences between each group if they received HIV care in Atlanta or outside of Atlanta.
