Public Health Information Portal (PHIP)

The Public Health Information Portal (PHIP) is an online system where you can request public health data from the Georgia Department of Public Health.

Online Analytical Statistical Information System (OASIS)

The standardized health data repository used by OASIS is currently populated with Vital Statistics (births, deaths, fetal deaths, induced terminations, pregnancies),  Hospital Discharge, Emergency Room Visit, Arboviral Surveillance, Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS), Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey (BRFSS), STD, Motor Vehicle Crash, and Population data.

Vital Records

Vital records and vital events are defined as birth, death, fetal deaths (stillbirth), induced termination of pregnancy, marriage and divorce certificates and reports. Georgia Code Chapter 31-10, and Georgia Department of Public Health Regulation 290-1-3 specify the scope and authority of the Georgia vital records program.

Surveillance

Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS)

The Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) is a statewide, ongoing, population-based survey that collects information on women who give birth in Georgia. GA PRAMS supplements birth certificate data by collecting information on women's attitudes, experiences, and behaviors before, during, and after they deliver a live born infant.

Birth Defects

Accurately tracking birth defects and analyzing the collected data is a first step in preventing birth defects. Birth defects tracking systems are critical to track birth defects and use the data for prevention and referral activities.

Research

Institutional Review Board (IRB)

The Department of Public Health (DPH) maintains an Institutional Review Board which is charged with assuring that the rights of human subjects of research conducted or sponsored by the Department are protected as outlined in federal and state policies and regulations. All research projects that involve human subjects must be submitted to the Board for review and approval prior to their initiation.
