  • About the Georgia WIC Program

    Georgia WIC is the nation's fifth-largest Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children. The Georgia Department of Public Health administers the program with federal funding provided by the Food and Nutrition Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

    Georgia WIC serves to safeguard the health of low-income pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutritional risk by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, information on healthy eating, including breastfeeding promotion and support, and referrals to health care.

    Georgia WIC services are provided in health departments, community health centers, hospitals, military bases, and the Division of Family and Children Services (DFACS) offices. There are over 1,400 authorized vendors that are participating in the WIC food delivery system in Georgia. The Georgia WIC program has provided nutrition education and supplemental foods to low-income families for over thirty years.

      • Do I Qualify For WIC Benefits?

        WIC is available to:

        • Low-income* pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women
        • Low-income* parent or guardian who is the sole provider of children under age five who are at nutritional risk

        *Low income is considered at or below 185% of the federal poverty level. Review the current Income Eligibility Guidelines.

      Complete a WIC application at the Georgia Gateway website. If you are eligible for benefits, your clinic will contact you with an appointment for your Nutrition Assessment and food benefits.

The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation. The completed AD-3027 form or letter must be submitted to USDA by:
