EMS Instructor Licensure

License Management System (LMS)

The Georgia Office of EMS and Trauma uses an online platform to process all initial and renewal medic and instructor license applications. Paper applications are NOT accepted. Click HERE for information on how to access an existing account and how to create an account for new users.

Initial License Requirements

  • Emergency Medical Services Instructor - Level I

  • Emergency Medical Services Instructor - Level II
    • Current Georgia AEMT, CT, Paramedic, RN, PA, or MD license in good standing, including a copy of those credentials (if not licensed as a/an AEMT/CT/Paramedic)
    • Copy of your educator course attendance certificate (see list below for acceptable courses)
    • Copy (front and back) of a current – signed CPR card (see this document for acceptable cards
    • Verification of Lawful U.S. Residency for License Application (signed and notarized) AND a copy of the verifiable documents that were submitted (Click HERE for a list of Acceptable Documents)
    • Be Currently Nationally Registered at the AEMT or Paramedic level OR Pass the NREMT AEMT Assessment Exam within the previous 24 months
    • Complete the Initial EMS Instructor License - Level II application available at www.mygemsis.org/lms

  • Emergency Medical Services Instructor - Level III
    • Current Georgia Paramedic, RN, PA, or MD license in good standing, including a copy of those credentials (if not licensed as a Paramedic)
    • Copy of your educator course attendance certificate (see list below for acceptable courses)
    • Copy (front and back) of a current – signed CPR card (see this document for acceptable cards
    • Copy (front and back) of current ACLS credentials.  (see this document for acceptable cards)
    • A minimum of an Associate Degree or 90 quarter hours of college credit (or 60 semester hours) from a regionally or nationally accredited institution. An official transcript is required and should be sent to:
      • Office of EMS and Trauma, ATTN: Instructor Licensing, 1680 Phoenix Blvd, Ste 200, Atlanta, GA 30349

    • ​Be Currently Nationally Registered at the Paramedic level OR Pass the NREMT Paramedic Assessment Exam within the previous 24 months.

Instructor License Renewal Requirements

  • EMS Instructor - Level I Renewal Requirements
    • All Level I Instructors must submit an application to the Department to renew their license.

  • EMS Instructor - Level II and Level III Renewal Requirements
    • Maintain a Georgia EMS license in good standing
    • Submit an Attestation Statement verifying
      1. That the instructor participated in a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours of department-approved continuing education in instructional techniques and
      2. That the instructor has taught a minimum of forty (40) hours during the renewal period in one or more of the following Department approved initial education courses: EMR, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic.
