STD Core Training

The Passport to Partner Services online modules for providers cover all Partner Services (PS) aspects and are designed for PS professionals of all experience levels. There are 14 modules online. Eight of these modules focus on key concepts of disease: infectious diseases and human anatomy, syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), HIV infection and AIDS, tuberculosis, and hepatitis. The other six modules focus on the core competencies of partner services: introduction to partner services for PS service providers, communication skills, interviews (5 sub-units), field survey and information reports, referral and link to care, and management of syphilis and VCA cases. 

For each significant disease concept module, you will learn about the characteristics of the disease and how it is spread from person to person. You will also learn about testing methods, treatment options, prevention strategies, and case management principles. This training aims to understand the importance of referring patients and partners to a range of support services. You will learn how to assess referral needs and ensure successful referrals. You will also have the opportunity to practice making referrals. Click Here

It examines concepts of sexual orientation and gender identity, terms patients can use to describe themselves, and communication strategies used with patients to show respect for people's sexuality and gender. This course is designed to introduce Disease Intervention (DIS) specialists to the principles and strategies of post-trauma care so that they are equipped with the knowledge and tools they need to support clients who have suffered trauma. This module introduces the basic principles and best practices for conducting telephone interviews for Partner Service Providers (i.e. CDS or DIS). You will learn about professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural competence. You will also learn how to prepare and conduct a telephone interview. By mastering these communication skills, you can conduct telephone interviews with greater confidence and effectiveness. Click Here

This course aims to educate and inform DIS on how to implement high-quality, comprehensive public health details for health and medical professionals. In addition to introducing the details, this course also helps to prepare DIS for all aspects of the details, from preparing for the initial visit to developing key information and developing a follow-up action plan. This training is hosted by the state STD office. The training is designed to introduce new SendSS users to the STD SendSS module of the state surveillance system. This is a one-day virtual training. Training offerings will be listed on the training calendar once available.
